Application of History & Neurologic Examination for Accurate Expanded Disability Status Score (EDSS) Assessment

This interactive course will provide a brief introduction to the development of the EDSS and its important utility as a MS outcome measure. The advantages and limitations of using the EDSS as an MS outcome measure will be explored. Relevant historical questions and physical examination findings required to calculate an accurate EDSS score will be highlighted. The second portion of the course will be interactive (through live polling and/or small group discussion) with the opportunity to practice scoring EDSS for different clinical scenarios. Caveats to EDSS scoring will be reviewed. This course assumes prior experience with a comprehensive neurologic examination. Level of Information: Intermediate, Advanced
